About Us

In early 2021, the Wenzhou Municipal Government endorsed the initiative to launch an international school for children of expatriates in the vicinity in order to meet the growing educational needs of the local international communities. Wenzhou Union International School (WUIS), jointly founded by Wenzhou-Kean University Education Development Foundation and Likeda Holdings, was thus established. Upon approval by the Department of Education of the Zhejiang Provincial Government in July 2021, the School was registered with the Zhejiang Civil Affairs Bureau in August 2021.

As the only international school in the Wenzhou vicinity offering formal foreign curricula at both the primary and secondary levels, WUIS aims to provide quality international education for the children of expatriates, overseas Chinese, and citizens of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. With students and teachers worldwide, the school values international-mindedness as the core of its culture. In May 2023, WUIS became a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP and MYP programs, embarking on the journey toward authorization. Consequently, WUIS has become a forerunner in promoting the IB education philosophy in Greater Wenzhou. For more details about our candidacy, please check the text below the pictures.
